Elementum is a journal of new writing and visual arts that explores our connection to the natural world. Alongside illustrated creative non-fiction Elementum features poetry, nature writing and interviews.

The very first edition explores the theme of calling – we set sail on untameable oceans that renew the love of home, and revisit the enduring myth of the Mermaid of Zennor. We take to the trail in the company of Yosemite’s black bears, and a musician reveals how a long-dormant vocation was birthed. We reflect on the enduring song of the humpback whale, and talk with a poet about the importance of landscape and memory.

Each narrative is a journey of transformation, exploration and intrigue,?asking questions as well as seeking to answer them, retaining curiosity and a sense of wonder at the unknown and unseen. These stories are published alongside beautiful and interpretative images from artists, illustrators and photographers. A minimal, clean design holds the eclectic mix of content and invites the reader to slow down and take time to consider the living world around us.?
